Sigmascreening´s solution represents an important step in addressing over-compression and significantly reducing pain. Sigmascreening has developed a new breast compression paddle that takes the individual breast size into account and the compression needed for an optimal mammogram. This both benefits women and optimises image quality.

Job description
The primary role of an application scientist is to become a research and application expert in the field of mammography with the following main responsibilities: To conduct experiments and research work within a German – Dutch research consortium. To work on new product introduction from clinical and application perspective and to
write articles/publications and reports on the technology.
Working within Sigmascreening will give you an unique opportunity to join a fast growing company, and play an integral role that promise to transform the mammography industry. This position is based in Enschede, the Netherlands. However, for this position 25%-50% traveling will be required to our office in Amsterdam as well as international to customers, specifically in Germany.

 Lead research development project with German and Dutch partners
 Summarize findings and publish results in scientific journals
 Drive predevelopment of new products in the assigned area
 Identify opportunities for clinical research to further the body of evidence for our products
 Monitor scientific articles, new IP and eventually new patents in the assigned area
 Write grant applications for research funding
 Analyse customer data and complaints on request
 Review marketing product sales materials as needed
Desired Skills and Experience
 MSc with 2 years of relevant experience or PhD degree in Biomedical Engineering, Technical Medicine,
Computer Science, Applied Physics or related field.
 Proven strong technical background
 Proven ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial start-up in which cross-functional
teamwork and initiative is a must
 Ability to work independently with minimal guidance with a strong focus on (interdisciplinary) collaboration
 Computer & programming skills (Powerpoint, Excel, SQL, Java, MATLAB, Python, C/C++, R/SPSS);
 Experience in conducting clinical trials with medical devices
 Ability to anticipate and resolve problems
 Ability to assess client needs effectively and address needs through new products and services
 Self-critical mind-set
 Excellent written, oral, interpersonal communication skills and organizational management abilities
 Fluent in English, both written and spoken
 Fluent in German, both written and spoken is a pre
 Current knowledge of medical device regulation is a pre
 Current knowledge of statistical methods used in clinical research is a pre
